I love going to wine tastings with friends – you know that old Chinese saying “With true friends…even water can make you drunk”? Well this is real stuff so in order to avoid breaking the law, having somewhere to stay would be a great idea.
This is the Ironbark Cottage at Wollombi Wines, this cottage certainly have the wonderful mix between quirkiness and charm. I know everything tourism brochure would tell me, this place is picturesque (yes); available all year round (yes); and not far from the town centre (yes). But what they forgotten to tell is that, although it is close to town centre, there’s also a sensible distance to provide you with good privacy, and because it is self-contained, you can really have the place to yourself and friends without being disturbed.
My plan is, do all the shopping in advance, stroll up to the cellar door (less than 10 minutes) and taste my favourite White Splash with Allyson and Peter, then roll down the hill to the cottage (within a minute), who’s with me? (You can walk to the cottage)

這就是伍龍拜葡萄酒園獨有的Ironbark Cottage。旅遊小冊子會告訴我的:風景如畫,靠近鎮中心,一年四季都可以租用…我都經已知道。但小冊子沒有提到的是,雖然靠近鎮中心,但地勢令Ironbark Cottage不受主要交通路打擾,加上廚房洗手間等齊全,我很喜歡這自成一各的感覺,雖然全屋可以容立六至八人,但是我較喜歡獨個兒放鬆一下…
附:和當地朋友Hofts氏夫婦共享名為White Splash的白酒,其實也可能喝得超過法例駕駛的標準,所以如果早已準備住宿,便可以盡情享受。好享受當然是好的,但道路安全也是十分重要的!
